Over the years Solid Surfaces has excelled in both service and quality. In 1982, countertops were being fabricated one at a time with small hand tools. Solid Surfaces president Mitch Makowski was a young entrepreneur who
saw a countertop product with great potential and was willing to try new method.

Dupont, the makers of Corian® were committed to their new product and often called on Solid Surfaces to field test new fabrication
processes.Dupont engineers would travel from their Buffalo manufacturing plant laden with samples of prototypes for the technicians at Solid Surfaces to work with and provide feedback

When Mark Makowski joined the growing company in 1985, they could not have imagined the Solid Surfaces would become one of the most advanced solid surface fabricator's in the United States. As in many
facets of the building industry, computers have revolutionized countertop fabrication. Customer's are Surprised to see a technician arrive to measure for countertops with a laptop instead of firring strips and glue gun to be fashioned into a template. After the technician has entered his measurements ,the job is e-mail to the office where tool paths are generated and then electronically transmitted to the CNC (computer numerically controlled) router, where it begins the fabrication process.
